The "Baby Steps for Health" program, developed with MD Anderson Cancer Center, is a free initiative for pregnant women and new mothers in East/Northeast Texas. It provides a smartphone app, telephone counseling, and resources for smoking cessation, wellness, and creating smoke-free homes. The program spans the prenatal period through four months postpartum.

The app provides personalized wellness messages, smoking cessation information, and relapse prevention tips. Participants receive 6–8 telephone counseling sessions, tobacco cessation materials, and support for establishing a smoke-free home. The program aims to support healthier pregnancies and environments for families. It is designed specifically for residents in the East Texas region. The initiative focuses on behavioral intervention to improve health outcomes, including the Smoke-Free Homes kit for reducing secondhand smoke exposure.
